insignificance

A thousand miles of dark desert highway stretched out before my wide open eyes. And straight ahead in the pitch black night, monotony was interrupted by a star falling in a brilliant streak of blue-white light.

A diverse flock of grey-winged thoughts flew smoothly through the bone fibers of my thick and throbbing skull. When they found their way into the brain, it was much of the same- wings flapping, claws scraping and tapping through the synapses and dendrites to the somatic globe. Action potential after action potential after action potential-

Until the fall of the star.
And then I felt small.
Gloriously Euphorically Small.
