i accidentally fell in love with austin today.
i learned at a very young age how to adapt to shitty situations. when you're a child you feel totally helpless to change the things around you, so over time you become very good at adapting. you learn how to accept things as they are, and thrive despite them. i'm grateful to have learned these things, they have served me well for a very long time. but today i learned something different.
i've been so used to california politics, where it's very much preaching to the choir and the choir is everywhere, and everyone. but there's something magical that happens when you're the underdog and you still choose to fight for what you believe in. the most inspiring people i met today were women in their 60's, 70's, and beyond who had seen and participated in many protests, and are still fighting for what they believe in. and with smiles on their faces and so much love in their hearts. new heroes, new role models, new family.
